You are cordially invited to the opening of LA XX NL, a group show at Frank Taal Gallery in Rotterdam on 10 September!
LA XX NL is the return exhibition of a curatorial collaboration between Carl Berg and Frank Taal.
Carl Berg (founder and director of PRJCTLA, situated in Los Angeles) and Frank Taal (owner and director of Frank Taal Galerie Rotterdam) found each other in earlier projects sharing an interest in the connection between the Los Angeles Art scene and Dutch artists.
The Los Angeles artists include:
China Adams, Jenn Berger, Lauren Bon, David DiMichele, Katy Ann Gilmore, Alexandra Grant, Daniel Hawkins, Tim Hawkinson, Lies Kraal, Nathan Redwood, Douglas Tausik Ryder.
The Dutch artists include:
Bram Braam, Irene de Boer, Gerben Mulder, Daan den Houter, Saminte Ekeland, Mike Ottink, Marie Pop (Anique Weve, Inge Aanstoot), Hester Scheurwater, Marilou van Lierop, Tycho van Zomeren, and Sabine Woudenberg.
In March of this year Carl Berg and Frank Taal co-curated the exhibition NL XX LA at PRJCTLA, an alternative space situated in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles. On September 10 the group exhibition LA XX NL opens with the same group of artists at Frank Taal Galerie in the center of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. With LA XX NL Carl Berg and Frank Taal will be completing their curatorial exchange but we promise there are more LA NL projects on the way.
This show brings together two diverse curatorial approaches that meld into an eclectic yet compelling exhibition featuring a diverse group of artists both in age and stylistic approach.
LA XX NL is a mix of 11 artists from Los Angeles and 11 artists from The Netherlands. The exchange exhibition does not follow a specific theme but rather forms around a mix of artists selected by the curators relaying diverse curatorial interests.
The exhibition opens on September 10 and will run through October 15, 2022
